Martina Hamilton

Martina Hamilton’s jewellery collection is influenced by her Sligo-home on the West Coast of Ireland with its beautiful land and seascape. The name Sligeach, translates in English as “the Shelly Place”. Themes evolving from the seashore using textures and colour are unconscious and primal and are distilled in her silver and gold creations.

Throughout her design career Martina has also drawn on the poetry of W.B Yeats for her inspiration. Her craft outlet The Cat and The Moon named after a Yeats poem and play celebrates 25 years in business. The Cat and The Moon, is one of Irelands leading studio craft outlets and stocks only Irish made jewellery, fine art and handcraft. Hamilton Gallery located on the first floor of No. 4 Castle Street, was established by Martina and promotes emerging and established Irish artists.
